Origin: Sumatra, Rwanda – A Collaborative Blend with Bizarre Brewing in Seattle
Process: Anaerobic Honey, Natural
Notes: Chocolate Covered Cherries, Cedar, Tawny Port
Roast Level: Light/Med
BIZARRE started as a straightforward blend for a coffee stout we brewed with our long time friends Derek & Colette at Bizarre Brewing in Seattle, WA. The stout is called Talking Teeth – it’s super delicious and well worth seeking out a 4-pack. After sipping the coffee for a couple days, we got the wild hair to roast the same blend incorporated in the beer, package it, and release both simultaneously… pretty cool, right?!
This blend is roasted light, but has an oddly full-bodied mouthfeel, finishing both funky and sweet. We taste notes of chocolate covered cherries, cedar chips, marshmallows, cinnamon, and port, and the fruity/woody/wine notes really open up as it cools. It makes for a fantastic pour over and cleans up real nice on espresso too. This is a limited run, so once it’s gone, it’s gone for good!
