Festbier was originally created in 1810 to celebrate the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig the first of Bavaria and Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen. Their wedding was such a good time the Bavarians decided to repeat the celebration every year; a gathering they would call Oktoberfest. Festbier is known for being a lighter and easier drinking than Marzen, and yet more robust than Helles, each popular Oktoberfest styles in their own right.
We brewed this version with our inspiring friends at Gold Dot, not only to tip our cap to the Crown Prince and Princess, but also to celebrate our 2nd Anniversary. Kevin Davey and Lisa Allen are two of the most distinguished and decorated Lager brewers in the state, and we are lucky to have had a chance to work with them.
